Spc. Michael Vassell Challenges Congress.

“I challenge anybody in Congress to do my rotation,” said Spc. Michael Vassell of Apache Company. “They don’t have to do anything, they just come hang out with me and go home at the times I go home, and come stay here 15 months with me.”

Michael is part of the Apache Company, US Army Second Infantry Division, which was sent to Iraq in June last year for a 1 year rotation which will be stretched to 15 months.   He challenges anyone in congress to come alongside and really see what’s up.   No takers yet.   Michael is waiting.   He really is expecting someone from Congress to take him up on it.  Keith Ellison?   Jim Webb?   These two look healthy and young enough as Congressmen.  It would be a great opportunity to show the American people they care.

“We got grenades going off, we’ve got an IED blowing up your vehicle … and then you are expected to go back in those four to six, four to five hours … and relax!” he said. “You just don’t have time to do it. Your body never gets to come down, you’re always on that heightened sense of alertness.”

“Because we have people up there in Congress with the brain of a 2-year-old who don’t know what they are doing — they don’t experience it. I challenge the president or anyone who has us for 15 months to ride alongside me,”

ABC news and the reporting of British photographer Sean Smith of the Guardian.  It appeared on ABC’s “Nightline” tonight.  But, Smith has attempted to turn the story into a negative screech reporting when he writes “Look how difficult this is and what exactly for?”   Typical.  Just don’t get it.

“…people up there in congress with the brain of a 2-year old.”    Could he be referring to Reid, Pelosi, Murtha, Kennedy, and the other ilks like that?   The anti-war, anti-Bush, peace at any price crowd of appeasement wimps.  The bunch that wants to cut the funding to the troops, and bring them home before the battle is won.  Where victory would be a ticker tape parade down gay avenue in New York led by Cindy and Rosie and John Kerry (who by the way served in Vietnam) singing kumbayah with the 20 bystanders from Code Pink serving cookies and milk to the armed Islamic parade float bringing up the rear.

God bless these brave men and women.
