Underground Explosion in NY near Grand Central Station.

The first words out of the mouths of the officials were “there is no sign that this was an act of terrorism.”   But it could be the result of a steam pipe burst due to cold condensation or a broken water main.   Asbestos may be in the smoke spewing from the gapping hole in the street.  One woman is confirmed dead and numerous others are injured.  Breaking News report.

NY explosion

Asbestos?  Hmmmm!  since 1972 when the Clean Air Act was made law, asbestos has slowly been banned from most all products and numerous public safety measures have been implemented to clean up the asbestos in construction and consumer products.

1973: Asbestos was banned for fireproofing.

1975: asbestos banned the installation of wet-applied pipe insulation

1975: Asbestos banned for block insulation on boilers and hot water tanks.

1978: asbestos was banned for “decorative” purposes.

1989: EPA rule: “Asbestos Ban and Phaseout”

1990: Asbestos banned spray-on applications to buildings, structures and etc.

But then a Court ruling in 1991 vacated much of the original rules.

But yet,if there is asbestos in the air from this blast, watch closely folks for the class-action lawsuits to come forth claiming all sorts of illnesses for thousands of people somewhat effected, if only remotely because they had the window open 3 miles away..   I don’t doubt that some attorneys are already thinking and planning.

It’s just the way it works.

Meanwhile, in Congress behind closed doors, plans are under way to denigrate the effects on the environment because of this explosion, and new laws need to be written protecting the environment, and the American People from these harmful substances.  It could possibly have a triggering effect on the atmosphere causing the global warming crisis to hasten.   Even Africa could be affected and cause an increase in HIV/Aids.

Hey, I don’t put it pass these liberal progressive secularists to miss a golden opportunity.
