Fraudulent Activity by Carpenters Union.

This kind of activity is really not legally considered a crime, it’s not against the law, but it sure is, what shall I say, fraudulent, deceitful and just plain pulling the wool over the public eye. The situation will not be presented on the nightly news as it really is, as most reporters will not catch it either, nor will they care to present the story behind the event, the outright covert intentional scam. A little strong, but I got your attention. And this is all these con artists wish to do too.

What is happening that I’m so riled up about.

“Carpenters locals across the country are outsourcing their picket lines, hiring the homeless, students, retirees and day laborers to get their message across. Larry Hujo, a spokesman for the Indiana-Kentucky Regional Council of Carpenters, calls it a “shift in the paradigm” of picketing.”

Paying outsiders to walk the line, to carry the banners, to shout the message, to get the attention of the local press.

The organizers go to the homeless shelters and hire some “temporary workers” to do the job that the union members themselves ought to be doing. Is it wrong? It’s not illegal, and it probably has been happening for some time now.

“In 2004, residents of at least 10 shelters were paid to collect signatures on petitions in favor of legalized gambling.”

“John Boardman, executive secretary treasurer of UNITE HERE local 25 in Washington, said the issue of who the picketers are is less important than why they’re there. “Let’s focus on the message — that there are people in this building that are working for substandard wages and benefits,” he said.” John did not add that the “temporary workers” walking the line outside the building are also “working for substandard wages” and for NO “benefits whatsoever.”

“In Washington, the carpenters union targets a different building almost daily.”

There is more in this Washington Post Story….

Could this same tactic be used by other political action groups and we not know about it? Democrats? Republicans? Environmentalists? Gays? (No, I suspect they are real) Abortion clinics? (No, I suspect they really believe) Anti-War? Anti-Bush? Border Security? (No, I suspect they really care about closing off the border) Finish your own list.

Viewer, beware of what you see on the tube presented as “news.” Know that what is being presented to you as an honest to goodness picket line being walked by actual members in reality, who have willingly given up a days wage to walk the line, because they so strongly believe in the message and cannot remain silent any longer, is not always the way it actually is.

You may be watching a “temporary worker” paid protest. It too will pass away. But, it brings the reporters and their cameras out of the office so that you can be informed of the message of the protest. That’s important, you know. Public opinion and sympathy.

Where is Paul Harvey when you need him to give “the rest of the story”?   But this reporter from the Washington Post exposed the deceitful practices of the Carpenters Union.   Let’s have more of it.

As I See It.
